See what your gift looks like given directly, and given through International Generosity Foundation

If you pay tax in both the United States and the United Kingdom, the route your gift takes changes what the charity receives. Enter the amount you are considering. The calculator applies Gift Aid, U.K. higher-rate relief, U.S. deductibility, Foreign Tax Credit effects, and our published assessments.

Enter the gift before Gift Aid is added.

How should the IGF gift be sized?

Your out-of-pocket cost stays the same in both columns. The calculator solves for the larger gift that same cost supports.

Assumptions used in this illustration

* Because less U.K. tax is paid once higher-rate relief is claimed, part of the U.S. deduction benefit may be reduced, since Foreign Tax Credits may be lower. This illustration assumes a reduction of approximately 10.86%. It assumes deductibility of the grossed-up amount, converted at 1.36 USD/GBP, and is subject to IRS deduction limits and Foreign Tax Credit offset effects. Actual tax outcomes depend on your specific circumstances, prevailing exchange rates, IRS deduction limits, and U.K. tax position. Gift Aid is available only if you have paid enough U.K. income tax or capital gains tax to cover the relief claimed. Assessments are 1% on the contribution, subject to a GBP 150 minimum, and 1% on the onward grant, subject to a GBP 300 minimum. Minimums are applied per contribution and per grant, so recommending several grants from one contribution may increase total assessments beyond the figure shown. International Generosity Foundation retains discretion over all grants, and seeks to follow donor recommendations wherever possible.
